Going behind the scenes on a shoot day for ‘Free Flow ‘Fro: A Natural Hair Project,’ a photo series celebrating natural hair in all its nuance and diversity and hoping to promote change in the acting industry through the power of positive representation.
We shot nearly 50 sitters in one action-packed day! Actor Cassie Clare discusses the genesis of the project, while actor and writer Jade Anouka and actor/director/educator Nicole Acquah discuss their experiences of the way the entertainment industry – and society more broadly – understands, or fails to understand, manage and respond to afro-textured hair.
